The Best Beach Cities Near West Palm Beach: An Honest Guide for Buyers

Here is something most people moving to the West Palm Beach area get wrong before they even start looking at homes: West Palm Beach itself is not on the beach. It sits on the Intracoastal waterway — on the water, yes, but not oceanfront. If the beach is a priority for your South Florida lifestyle, you need to be looking at the surrounding cities.

The good news is that the options within 15 to 20 minutes of West Palm Beach are genuinely exceptional — and they serve very different buyers with very different priorities and price points.

I'm Joe Vairo — a 2x eXp ICON Agent, ranked the #3 real estate agent in Fort Lauderdale by Fort Lauderdale Magazine, and founder of the Vairo Group, ranked the #3 real estate team in Fort Lauderdale. I cover the entire South Florida corridor from Fort Lauderdale through Palm Beach County, and this is the breakdown I give buyers who are evaluating the West Palm area and need to find the right beach community for their specific situation.

Palm Beach: Ultra-Luxury, Old Money, and the Most Famous Address in Florida

Palm Beach Island is the most obvious starting point — and the most famous. Directly across the bridge from downtown West Palm Beach, Palm Beach has built a global reputation over more than a century for ultra-luxury, old money prestige, and a level of privacy that most residential communities in the world cannot approach.

Worth Avenue delivers world-class shopping and dining in a setting that is genuinely unlike anything else in Florida. The beach here includes public access points alongside private beachfront that many of the island's estates effectively control as their own. The community is tight, established, and deliberate about maintaining the character that has made it one of the most recognized luxury addresses on earth.

The relationship between Palm Beach Island and downtown West Palm Beach has been historically one-directional — residents of the island rarely crossed the bridge for West Palm's restaurants or culture. That dynamic is finally shifting as West Palm's own infrastructure has matured, which creates an interesting moment for buyers evaluating the island. You are getting Palm Beach's historic exclusivity alongside a downtown West Palm scene that is legitimately improving on the other side of the bridge.

The price reflects all of it. The median sales price on Palm Beach Island currently sits at approximately $2.2 million — and that number represents the entry point, not the ceiling. Trophy properties here trade well into the hundreds of millions. This is the most expensive market on this list by a significant margin, and it is priced that way for specific and defensible reasons.

Best for: The buyer for whom privacy, prestige, and the most established luxury address in Florida are the non-negotiable priorities — and for whom price is not the primary filter.

Singer Island: Quiet, Condo-Forward, and Significantly More Accessible

Singer Island sits approximately 10 to 15 minutes north of downtown West Palm Beach and delivers a fundamentally different character from Palm Beach Island despite similar geography.

The lifestyle here is quieter, more laid-back, and oriented around the condo format — Singer Island is primarily a vertical residential market rather than a single-family one. The beaches are beautiful, the density is lower than most South Florida beach communities, and the overall atmosphere is genuinely relaxed in a way that appeals to buyers who want oceanfront access without the intensity of a more urban environment.

The price point is one of Singer Island's most compelling features relative to the rest of this list. To live on Singer Island with panoramic ocean views — and in many buildings, views to the west over the Intracoastal as well — you are looking at a median price point of approximately $1 million. For full ocean exposure in Palm Beach County, that number is genuinely compelling.

For buyers who want the beachfront condo lifestyle at a reasonable entry point into the Palm Beach County market, Singer Island is one of the first conversations worth having. The Oasis on Singer Island, which I have covered separately, is one of the strongest examples of what the most exclusive end of this market looks like — 38 units, one per floor, over 4,000 square feet each, right on the beach.

Best for: The buyer who wants a quieter, condo-forward beachfront lifestyle in Palm Beach County at a more accessible price point than Palm Beach Island.

Palm Beach Shores: The Best Hidden Gem in Palm Beach County

If Singer Island is underrated, Palm Beach Shores is even more so — and it is probably the single best value play for a specific type of buyer in this entire corridor.

Palm Beach Shores sits just south of Singer Island on the same barrier island, directly on the water with no fixed bridges and deep water canal access. Peanut Island sits right behind the community. The Palm Beach Inlet — one of the best inlets in South Florida for offshore access — is immediately accessible. The beach here is among the quietest and most private in Palm Beach County, with a genuinely exclusive feel that its relatively low profile in the broader market has helped preserve.

For the serious boater who also wants beach access and the Palm Beach County lifestyle, Palm Beach Shores delivers a combination that almost nothing else on this list can match: deep water, no fixed bridges, inlet access, a quiet private beach, and a residential community that has not yet been fully discovered by the broader market.

HAVN Residences and Yacht Club is the new development bringing boutique luxury to this community — 36 units across five three-story buildings, directly facing the Intracoastal with views of Peanut Island, a 52-slip full-service marina accommodating vessels up to 150 feet, and beach access with chairs, umbrellas, and services approximately six minutes on foot. HAVN starts around $1 million.

The overall median sales price in Palm Beach Shores sits just under $1.4 million — meaningfully below Singer Island for comparable or superior boating infrastructure and a similarly quiet beach character.

Best for: The serious boater who wants deep water access, no fixed bridges, and inlet proximity alongside a quiet private beach — at a price point below comparable Palm Beach County waterfront markets.

Juno Beach: The Quiet Beach Town That South Florida Locals Know and Love

Juno Beach is the community on this list that people who grew up in South Florida have the strongest attachment to — the pier here is one of those landmarks that marks a specific chapter of most local childhoods and adolescences.

The character of Juno Beach is defined by what it is not as much as what it is. It is not dense. It is not heavily commercialized. It does not have the luxury brand identity of Palm Beach or the emerging financial hub energy of West Palm. It is a genuine beach town — quiet, local, low-key, and deeply committed to staying that way.

The boating community is real and active. The beach town feel is authentic rather than manufactured for real estate marketing purposes. And the overall median sales price of approximately $832,000 makes Juno Beach the most accessible market on this list for the buyer who wants a true beach community lifestyle in Palm Beach County without a price point that requires significant compromise elsewhere in the household budget.

For buyers relocating from quieter Northeast coastal communities — think coastal Maine, the outer Cape, or the quieter parts of the Jersey Shore — Juno Beach's character and scale will feel immediately familiar and immediately right.

Best for: The buyer who wants an authentic, quiet beach town lifestyle in Palm Beach County at the most accessible price point on this list.

Jupiter: The Best All-Around Mix of Everything

Jupiter is the market on this list that delivers the broadest combination of lifestyle assets — and for a large category of buyer, it is the answer that checks the most boxes simultaneously.

The Jupiter Inlet and the Jupiter Lighthouse anchor a boating and fishing culture that competes with anything in South Florida. The inlet access is exceptional, the offshore fishing grounds are world-class, and the broader waterway system here supports serious boating in a way that few communities in Palm Beach County can match. Blowing Rocks Preserve and the broader beach access put the ocean lifestyle within easy reach. Juno Beach is just south for days when you want a longer stretch of beach.

Then there is the golf. Jupiter has a concentration of world-class golf — including courses associated with names like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan — that none of the other cities on this list can match. For the buyer who plays seriously, Jupiter's golf infrastructure is a meaningful quality-of-life differentiator that goes beyond what most South Florida beach communities offer.

The value picture is equally compelling. The median sales price in Jupiter sits at approximately $704,000 — the lowest on this list — despite the breadth of lifestyle assets the city delivers. The range within that market is enormous: entry-level product at accessible price points alongside trophy waterfront estates approaching $50 million. That range means buyers at very different financial positions can find a fit within the same community.

Best for: The buyer who wants the broadest combination of boating, beach, golf, and community infrastructure — at a median price point that represents the best overall value on this list.

The Side-by-Side Summary

Here is how the five markets stack up for the buyer trying to make the right decision:
